Getting to know the face behind the camera...
Hi 👋 I'm Amber
I've had a passion for photography my whole life. It started back with disposable cameras I would always have around, then I remember my bright blue film camera, then a hand-me-down digital camera, etc. etc. I started taking photography courses as soon as they were available in high school. Then, as a high schooler I had 2 framed prints sell at the Kalamazoo Art Hop- that was when it kind of hit me that, hey I might be good at this, and people would pay me for it! So I decided to go to Lansing Community College for my photography degree. At the time, they were ranked 9th in the nation for photography schools. I graduated in 2011 with my degree and immediately registered my business- Reflections Modern Photography, LLC. I worked for several companies out of college including Lifetouch Church Directories as a Portrait Sales Specialist, and Complete as a wedding photographer. I always dreamed of having my own studio, and in 2016 that came true! My wonderful husband and many friends and family members worked hard to build a pole building at our home and finish off a large section to be dedicated to studio space for me. No more cramming into my tiny living room, moving furniture into my kitchen, or hauling equipment up the stairs! Hallelujah! Since then, my business has grown immensely. After 6 years of having a prosperous studio, I recently moved back into my hometown of Vicksburg and am currently without a studio. We have plans to once again have a home studio space, but it may take a few months to a year to get it built and usable. In the meantime, I will be a 'traveling' studio and doing on-location shoots. I am committed to still providing a wonderful studio experience and quality photos, even without a dedicated studio space. This is a temporary issue and will be resolved soon, I will NOT be shutting my business down.
So, that is a little of my photography back story. Here are a few random facts about me:
1. I love bread and potatoes
2. I've run 2 half marathons
3. I have three kids- 6 year old Makenzie, 4 year old Lydia, and 1 year old Kobe
4. My perfect vacation is relaxing on a beach at an all inclusive resort. But more often than not, our big vacations are out West to the mountains.
5. I live for the summers and warm weather.
I hope that you feel like you know me a little better now! I'd love to get to know you, too.
